Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre stated that if the Kansas City Chiefs lose in the NFL playoffs, singer Taylor Swift will most certainly be blamed.
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins 26-7 on Saturday night. Ms. Swift, who is presently dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is frequently seen cheering from the owner’s box area during a lot of Chiefs games. She was also seen at the game on Saturday.
“I think it’ll be a distraction if they don’t make it to the Super Bowl,” Mr. Favre said in a video interview with TMZ Sports. “One of those things.” It is not for me to say, but if they do not win or make it to the Super Bowl, people will say, ‘That’s why.’ So we’ll have to wait and see.”
The Chiefs scored on four of their first six offensive drives. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes ended the first quarter with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Rashee Rice, and while subsequent drives stalled in the red zone, kicker Harrison Butker added three field goals to help Kansas City take a 16-3 lead.
“Butker was phenomenal,” remarked Mr. Reid. “That was like kicking a block of ice.”
At kickoff, the temperature was – 4 degrees Fahrenheit, comfortably breaking the record for the coldest game at Arrowhead Stadium. Wind gusts of more than 25 mph, which drove the wind chill to a bone-chilling minus 27 degrees, made the weather really awful for almost everyone.
The Chiefs scored another field goal in the third quarter, but it was still a two-possession game when the Dolphins appeared to force another field goal in the fourth. But a late roughing the passer penalty on Christian Wilkins on third down gave Kansas City a fresh set of downs, and Pacheco drove into the end zone moments later to give the Chiefs a 26-7 lead.
The Dolphins struggled on offense, like they did in a 21-14 loss to the Chiefs in Germany in November.
They were only 1 for 12 on third down, and they didn’t have a truly sustained drive until the fourth quarter. After scoring an early touchdown, the Dolphins never threatened down the stretch in their 11th straight loss when the temperature is 40 degrees or lower.
Next weekend, the Chiefs will play in the divisional round of the playoffs.
If they win, they will go to the AFC Championship game, where they might face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on February 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ms. Swift was photographed at her first Chiefs game on September 24, when the team defeated the Chicago Bears 41-10. She was observed watching the Chiefs upset the New York Jets a week later, then at games on Oct. 12, Oct. 22, and Dec. 17.
