Leeds United suffered relegation last season, but one huge benefit came out of it: teenager Archie Gray.
If Leeds United had not dropped into England’s second division, it is likely that the versatile star would not have received the minutes and starts he has this season.
The 17-year-old has performed admirably under Daniel Farke’s leadership, and to the surprise of Leeds United fans, he signed a new deal on Tuesday.
The promotion-chasing club announced on their official website that Archie Gray had agreed to ‘new terms’ by ‘committing his long-term future’ to Elland Road.
When the Leeds academy product responded to the news on Instagram, he received praise and applause in the comments area, notably from Jobe Bellingham.
The Sunderland star described it as ‘brilliant’, while Joe Rodon dubbed him a’star youngster’ and Stuart Dallas said, ‘love it, Archie’.
Archie Gray’s message for Leeds United fans
“Delighted to sign a new deal at my boyhood club,” Gray said in a statement. “Excited about the future! MOT.”
Archie Gray is coming to the Premier League.
Gray will be in the Premier League soon, whether in Leeds’ colours, as he hopes, or with another team.
The supporters will appreciate the fact that he is only 17, so he does not need to rush and can spend many years in England’s second tier.
Gray’s early exposure will be extremely beneficial, since he is shown remarkable quality and adaptability at such a young age.
From his 25 games this season, 15 have been at right-back, with the remainder played in the middle of the park.
