According to Foot Mercato, Yann M’Vila is in talks to return to Sunderland and offer Michael Beale a boost.

Since leaving the Stadium of Light, the defensive midfielder has never stopped talking about how much he enjoyed his initial term there, and he appears to be receiving a second shot after being a free agent for the whole of the first half of the season.

According to Foot Mercato, Sunderland ‘want’ the midfielder and have made signing the 33-year-old a ‘priority’ in January.

According to reports, the Black Cats were interested in him in the summer but were unable to finalize a contract.

However, conversations “re-started” this winter to make his wish a reality, and everything appears to be going well.
In a tweet on X, formerly Twitter, writer Santi Aouna also states that ‘communication took happened in recent days’ with M’Vila’s agents.
It remains to be seen whether he will be able to return to Sunderland, but it is evident that both parties want this to happen, and when this happens, a common ground is usually reached.

M’Vila appeared in 40 games across all competitions during his first spell at the Stadium of Light, scoring one goal and assisting on five more.
