There are few coaches with more prominence and respect than the famous Mike Krzyzewski, best known for his tenure as Duke University’s head coach from 1980 to 2022. During his famous career, Krzyzewski won five national championships, 15 ACC tournament titles, and 13 ACC regular season championships, totaling 1,202 career wins.
During an interview on “The Richmond Forum” earlier this week, the former Blue Devils and USA Basketball coach mentioned Caitlin Clark, another collegiate legend. During her remarkable career at Iowa, Clark became the all-time greatest scorer in NCAA Division I basketball. She presently plays for the Indiana Fever. Krzyzewski lauded Clark as the ideal player to build around, highlighting her excellent skills. With the WNBA season soon approaching, Clark’s sophomore year with the Fever has never been more anticipated.
“She’s terrific.” Krzyzewski stated. “The best thing she can do is pass.” She’s a wonderful passer with a strong feel for the game. So, just like her coach, I would have done the same thing: make sure she handles the ball a lot, and she’ll improve everyone. What astonished me was how she handled all of the defenses and, once she joined the WNBA, some of the hostility and jealousy that existed. I think she’s just been amazing. “She’s an excellent basketball player.
Clark had one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory, despite the pressure and scrutiny she faced. She not only won Rookie of the Year, but she also made the All-WNBA first team and was selected a WNBA All-Star in her rookie season. The former Iowa standout averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds.

She lead the Fever to their first postseason appearance since 2016. Despite being eliminated in the first round, the team has made great improvements. With new head coach Stephanie White taking over, the sky’s the limit for a Fever club that currently has a good blend of youth, talent, and experience.
