
Andrew Benintendi immediately grasped his right hand after being hit by a pitch in the first inning Thursday night against the Cleveland Guardians.
Benintendi made his way to first base at Camelback Ranch, where he was greeted by the training personnel before exiting the game.
The Chicago White Sox will be without the left fielder for four to six weeks after he suffered a nondisplaced fracture in his hand, the team said. The Sox announced that surgery will not be required for the injury.
“He was in pain,” manager Will Venable stated following the 4-2 triumph. “This is obviously horrible news. I’m sorry to hear this. Just hope he recovers quickly.

“We’ll be realistic about his recuperation, what it takes, and what he needs to do to get healthy again. We will take our time. Obviously, we will miss his presence on the field. But we need to give him an opportunity to recuperate and become healthier.”
