Journalist Alex Crook claims that supporters and players from one Premier League team will be upset if a key player coveted by Newcastle United is allowed to go in January.

Chelsea had a poor start to the season, but they have begun to gain pace in the last month or so, moving above Newcastle in the Premier League table.

A lot of that is due to the work of Conor Gallagher, whom Newcastle has loved for some time, and Crook, speaking on talkSPORT, believes there will be a ‘uproar’ in the stands and dressing room if he is transferred.

Newcastle target is still on the market.

At this point, nothing Chelsea does will surprise anyone after demonstrating one of the oddest and most perplexing transfer tactics in contemporary football.

Fans of the West London team have already grown dissatisfied with both their off-field conduct and their inconsistent performances on the play.

Selling someone like Gallagher, a homegrown player who has been with the club for 16 years and is perhaps their most important performer this season, might push the fans over the brink.

Crook has stated that he expects the Newcastle target to continue to be Chelsea’s narrative this window, but he is dubious whether anyone will be willing to pay the Blues’ £50 million asking price.

“The tale of this window, as far as Chelsea is concerned, is already building, and I believe it will continue until 11 p.m. on deadline day, Conor Gallagher. Will somebody put down £50 million to sell him?

If they did trade him, I believe there would be outrage not only in the locker room, but also on the terraces.”

Gallagher would be the ideal candidate for Newcastle and Howe.

Newcastle are need for a new midfielder after Joelinton’s season-ending injury, and Eddie Howe is said to be a huge supporter of Gallagher, who has put in strong performances this season.

Gallagher’s hardworking mentality on the pitch, as well as his ability to track back and drive the team forward, are exactly the qualities Howe seeks in midfielders, comparable to Joelinton’s job.

Given his high price and the fact that the Magpies don’t have much money to play with, Newcastle’s interest in him is unlikely to materialize this month, but the 23-year-old is still one to keep an eye on in the future.

Newcastle may make a transfer in the summer to provide quality depth, but for the time being, everything appears to be quiet on this front.
