Kyle Juszczyk is running back for the San Francisco 49ers. This is despite the Niners’ initial decision to waive the All-Pro fullback, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Juszczyk tried the waters of free agency. He allegedly spoke with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, which resulted in an offer from the organization. While the terms of Pittsburgh’s offer were not disclosed, ESPN stated that Juszczyk “took less than what the Pittsburgh Steelers were offering to return to San Francisco.” Ultimately, the nine-time Pro Bowler signed a two-year contract worth $8 million to stay with the Niners.
Juszczyk took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a meaningful message with 49ers fans following his significant financial sacrifice. “The amount of love and support thrown my way from the Faithful this past week has been nothing short of amazing!” he stated in an email. “I can’t thank you all enough and I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am to continue on this quest for six in the red and gold!”
Juszczyk’s choice to run it back was clearly motivated by his affection for the San Francisco faithful. Juszczyk played his first four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, who chose him in the fourth round of the 2103 NFL Draft. However, there is no disputing that the former Harvard standout rose to prominence in the league in San Francisco.
Juszczyk has spent eight years with the Niners. During that time, he has 1,895 receiving yards on 184 receptions. He has 13 receiving touchdowns, 212 running yards and five rushing touchdowns.

There’s no doubt that he’s established himself as one of the best fullbacks in Niners team history.
