There was absolutely no doubt that Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers had a season to remember in 2024–25. The Tigers went to the NCAA Tournament Final Four but came up short against conference rival Florida in San Antonio. It was only the program’s second trip to the final four.

Auburn remains one of the busiest programs in college basketball, and Pearl and his staff are now working nonstop to navigate the NCAA transfer portal, which is open until Tuesday. The Tigers received significant news on Saturday that will strengthen their roster for the 2025–26 season: “BREAKING: Auburn has landed a commitment from top D2 transfer Elyjah Freeman, he told @On3sports.” Joe Tipton of On3 Sports reported the significant transfer development.

Born in Wellington, Florida, Freeman made his debut at Lincoln Memorial University in the 2024–2025 campaign. He made the first team All-Conference and was named the Freshman of the Year for the South Atlantic Conference.

On April 11, Freeman visited Auburn for the first time.

Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky were among the three SEC powerhouses that actively courted the forward through the transfer portal, but he ultimately decided to join the Tigers.

Freeman will still be eligible for three more years when he starts the season with the Tigers. He shot an incredible 46.3% from three-point range and averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game last season.

The idea of Auburn starting five new players when the season begins has been discussed a lot. Luckily for them, they have been successful in luring some talented individuals to take the place of those who left.
