Five-star prospect, told ESPN on Sunday that he has committed to Tennessee for the 2025–2026 campaign. According to Joe Tipton of On3, he picked the Volunteers over prestigious programs like Duke, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Louisville.
This year, Ament, who completed his senior year in Manassas, Virginia, acknowledged that choosing a college wasn’t simple, giving Tennessee coach Rick Barnes, who has been with the Volunteers since 2015, credit for the decision.
“Coach Barnes sees me as a one-and-done type player,” Ament stated. “He has done it before with Kevin Durant [at Texas]. He thinks I’d be a good fit for his program. I developed a strong rapport with the coaching staff. I trust them a lot, and they have tremendous aspirations for me. They’ll do a fantastic job of shaping me into a young man and footballer, in my opinion. I have faith that the coaches will help me advance.
Ament’s senior year was outstanding. He assisted in leading Highland High School to a VISAA Division I Championship championship and a 42-8 record. In addition, he won Virginia’s Gatorade Player of the Year title for boys basketball and was named a McDonald’s All-American.
He seems thrilled to be moving to Tennessee to play for the Volunteers and coach Barnes. He also has ambitious aspirations for the program.
“I feel like we’ll be a national championship team,” Ament stated. That type of run is what we’re going to do. The coaches informed me that they intended to strengthen my defensive skills after using me as an offensive weapon. I’m not given a position by them. They consider me merely a player, yet they make jokes about it. I am able to perform all tasks on both ends of the floor.

In the 2026 NBA draft, Ament is anticipated to be selected in the top five.
