On Sunday morning, Bruce Pearl verified that Elyjah Freeman, a transfer guard, had been added.
According to reports, Freeman, a transfer from Division II Lincoln Memorial, made his Tigers commitment on Saturday. As a rookie in 2024–25, he averaged almost 19 points and 9 rebounds per game, dominating the DII level.
Freeman will play large guar
d for the Tigers next season, Pearl announced in a statement on Sunday, calling him a “classic late bloomer.”
In a statement, Pearl remarked, “Elyjah Freeman is your classic late bloomer.” After graduating from high school, he was under-recruited, but he performs admirably at Lincoln Memorial. As a freshman, Elyjah was one of the top offensive players in Division II basketball. He is also a very motivated, hard-working individual. Some of his instincts are difficult to teach. Although he is the size of a forward, Auburn will use him as a large guard. Amazing mother and excellent domestic support. This year, he was among the top young players we assessed through the site.
When Freeman played for Lincoln Memorial the previous season, his height was reported as 6′ 8″. Next season, he can play offensively in Auburn’s back court and guard opposition forwards because to his size and versatility. Last year, he demonstrated that he is a superb 3-point shooter by making more than 45% of his efforts from beyond the arc.
Chad Baker-Mazara, who unexpectedly accessed the transfer site last week, might be replaced by Freeman. Over the past two seasons, Baker-Mazara has been a key contributor to Auburn’s success as a large guard.
This offseason, Auburn will need to replace all five starters from its 2025 Final Four club, giving Freeman plenty of chances to secure a significant position on the team the following year.
