This is the second time that Cameron Boozer, a five-star recruit for Duke basketball, has received the title of 2025 Mr. Basketball USA. In 2023, the third-ranked recruit in the class of 2025 according to 247Sports Composite Rankings became the first sophomore to win the honor. In 2024, he came in second to current Blue Devil Cooper Flagg.
The highly-touted recruit is in good company as Boozer is the first high school player since LeBron James to win the award twice.
After receiving the award, Boozer told Ballislife, “Yeah, it’s crazy.” “Honestly, it’s been a crazy journey and I’m super thankful for it all!” Boozer said, “To be categorized with such a small group of guys who have won the award twice is an amazing feeling and hopefully I can do more winning at the next level and the one after that.” Boozer is one of the most decorated high school prospects of all time, having won at an extremely high level consistently during his high school career at Columbus, Florida, along with his twin brother Cayden, a four-star point guard who also committed to Duke.
Columbus beat Dynamic Prep (TX) to win the Chipotle High School National Championship this past season. The son of former Duke basketball icon Carlos Boozer is a two-time Gatorade National Boys Player of the Year winner.
During his last year of high school, Boozer averaged 22.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. In addition, the 6’9 power forward recorded 16 points and 12 rebounds in 23 minutes of play, the only double-double in the 2025 McDonald’s All-American game.
He will be a member of the Blue Devils’ incoming freshman class, which 247Sports ranks as the third-best class, which also includes four-star Cayden Boozer and five-star Nik Khamenia. For most of the 2025 recruiting season, it was the best class, but Duke lost it after five-star Shelton Henderson left the school.
Jon Scheyer has a clear idea of his rotation for the next season now that the transfer site is closed. In addition to Caleb Foster, Isaiah Evans, Darren Harris, Maliq Brown, and Patrick Ngongba II announcing their comebacks, Kon Knueppel, Cooper Flagg, and Tyrese Proctor have declared for the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Duke program has not yet added any students through the transfer portal, making it one of the few colleges that has not lost any students to it.
